A fine record in it's own right, but really only a collector's item. Three of the tracks are taken from the 'Everybody Is Fantastic' LP and the other track 'Dear Rosemary' (only on the 12 Inch version anyway) appears on the re-released CD version of the LP.
The choice of tracks from the LP is as good as any. Title track 'Dolly' (covered in the album review) is the most sing-a-long and clearly aimed at luring unsuspecting souls into the sinister world of Microdisney by the back door.
'Dear Rosemary' is restricted to acoustic guitar and singing and presumably left off the LP for that reason. It's still a great song and the closest they ever got to a love song. Even so 'you were my only friend, I was your dearest fan' soon turns into 'they want to build a land fit for heroes to starve to death in'. There's still a tenderness to the song though and an unusually singular lack of cynicism about relationship motives.
